One of the great things about the Cotswolds. is that the distances are not great, and within 10 miles of, say, Stow-on-the-Wold you could find a dozen small villages, each with its own charm.

Wool brought great wealth to the area in the Middle Ages,
hence the large "wool" churches that seem too big for the village
